Frequently asked questions

CWP Interior veneers

Reconstituted veneer is made from 1,5 mm birch veneer layers laminated pressed together, and then sliced into the reconstituted sheets. The sheets have a thickness of 0,6 mm. Standard length is 3100 mm and width 630 mm.

As with any wood veneer, it’s recommended to finish the surface of the products made using cwp-veneers. They can be finished using standard wax, oil, lacquer and varnishes. Testing is recommended.

CWP veneers are real wood, and it’s a characteristic of wood that the colour will change with time. UV Permanence is good on surface-treated products.

Being a natural wood product the colour and visual appearance may vary little from one production lot to another. We recommend to check colours if combining veneers made from two different production lots.

The fire classifications are requested for the complete interior panels, not veneers alone. CWP veneers can be used in interior panels, which are fulfilling demanding technical requirements. Please ask more information from the panel producers directly.

CWP dyed 1,5mm veneers

We don’t recommend to use 1,5mm peeled veneer on surcafes due to it’s structure. Instead we recommend to use our reconstituted birch veneer in 0,6mm thickness for surfaces.

We use waterbased dyes in our through dyeing process

Surfaces can be finished with common surface treatment materials. We suggest to try first with left over pieces.

CWP Laminated Blanks

CWP produces only laminated blanks. Our customers produce ready stocks.

We aim to keep our warehouse at a reasonable size, so we primarily offer standard sizes listed in our web shop. However, custom sizes and other tailored solutions are also possible—feel free to contact us for more details.

All our laminated blanks are parallel glued. Veneer grain direction is along the long side of blank.

We use only free of knots quality. Some veins and hair is allowed. Dyeing of these parts may be different than other parts. Also some small healthy knots are allowed.

CWP Coloured Wood Products

The founder of CWP, Riku Kärri is an engineer in wood technology but also a keen shooter. The idea of through-colouring occurred to him in the course of his hobby. The first application was a through-coloured gun-stock for a competition gun in 1999. Kärri developed the colouring method systematically as part of a Lappeenranta University of Technology research project. In 2004, CWP Coloured Wood Products Oy was founded.
